United States: Experts have proven that five minutes of morning exercise daily may stop dementia from developing in vulnerable elderly adults.

Research results showed that starting any physical exercise routine for at least thirty-five minutes per week decreased the risk of dementia among members of this study group by 41 percent throughout the average four-year follow-up time period. 

The latest findings have been published lately in the Journal of the American Medical Directors Association and have been shared on medical sites. 

As for those people with a risen risk of “adverse health outcomes,” greater activity is linked to lower dementia risk, as per the researchers.

Subject participants who maintained between 35-to-69.9 minutes and 70-to-139.9 minutes and those who performed physical activity for more than 140 minutes each week all demonstrated lower dementia risks of 60 percent, 63 percent, and 69 percent, respectively. 

The research team at the University of Liverpool evaluated a set of smartwatch-type activity tracker data collected from around 90,000 UK adults, according to SWNS news reports.

Study participants had an average demographic age of 63 years old. The study included a female participant group that composed 56 percent of the total number of people in the analysis. 

During 4.4 years of follow-up period, researchers identified dementia development in 735 individuals in the study group. 

The research showed that people who added 30 more minutes of weekly moderate to vigorous physical activity (MVPA) to their routine obtained a 4 percent decrease in their chance of developing dementia.
